What is the Plate-Backer?
It'san 18 gauge powder coated piece of sheet metal, cut to fit directly behind your
license plate, when mounting it to your vehicle or trailer. It serves to strengthen and
back up the license plate, so it can withstand the wind and vibration that acts on
exposed plates on all types of vehicles, and trailers.
My personal experiences are that the new plate in Michigan, are made with such
thin aluminum, that my utility trailer plate actually tore around the mounting bolts. I
have seen many license plates on utility trailers, vehicles and especially boat trailers,
that are all bent up, or literally falling off, because they are simply not strong enough
to cut through the wind at highway speed.
Many plates are lost on the highway, which cause road hazards, or at a minimum

stand in line for 20 minutes (if your lucky) only to spend more money to replace the

applications such as trailer manufacturers, let me know and perhaps we can custom
cut for your application for a reasonable price.
